Brigitte Borja de Mozota is a grandeur of design management and have put her long time experience in several writings. She started as a buyer in the Department Store chain “Au Printemps” and as an entrepreneur for an import company specialized in distributing designer gifts and party goods. She believes that working with designers is what made her a better manager!
In my discoveries of identifying managerial issues when practicing design with an empathic approach, I find some parallels in Mozota’s writing on design process management. A concluding from my findings is the importance of handling design from the top management of an organization! Mozota defines it this way:
“The design process is an identity process. It defines the company for itself. It’s customers, and it’s investors. If differentiates a firm from its competitors and is a the heart of the firms success. Design provides a key identifier for the company to the public hence the great necessity for design managers to to take proactive positions in design process management”.
