In the category Healthy Lifestyle inmu – a music sensory stimulation device won a Danish Design award this year.
You ca see a video of the device in use here.
I first saw inmu’s product when I visited the Health & Rehab fair in Copenhagen in May 2018. Here I met the founder Anders Hansen, and the designer Emilie Dissing Wiehe, to find out that their product was nominated for the best New Rehab Product. Emilie is a textile design graduate from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and her graduation project won a Danish Design award in 2017 in the category Young Talent.
inmu is interesting as it combines sensory touch through textiles, with hearing, special compound music which is activated by touching the device. It is a small pillow with speakers, battery and a music player inside. It sounds very simple and it might be – but aiming the market of dementia is a touch nut to crack. Luckily inmu seems to have found a way to succeed with their aesthetic product and idea.
